Happy Birthday

So it tomorrow is David's birthday and I have a feeling that we will be busy all day so I wanted to write this before then. I can't believe that the years have gone by so fast. I remember when I first moved to Lubbock and we celebrated David's birthday just the two of us, now it is the whole family. It amazes me how much things change over time. I asked David what kind of cake he wanted and he said chocolate. He then said everything will be made from scratch, right? I said yes, he said well I hate the canned icing. I think David has gotten used to everything being homemade. He loves homemade cakes and cookies. I can't remember that last time I made a box anything. I have a feeling that might change soon! He has gotten spoiled over the years but won't admit it. I love to bake and cook so I actually enjoy it. Hayden was looking at a calendar a few weeks ago and I told him when David's birthday was. I told him that daddy will be 32 and since he is getting "old" he will start having gray hair. I told Hayden that every day he needs to check David's head for gray hair. So the other night Hayden and David were playing and then Hayden stopped to inspect David's hair. David was puzzled and started asking him why he was doing that. Hayden of course said, I am checking for gray hair. David said why and Hayden said because mommy said too. David didn't think it was too funny, but I was cracking up because it was the typically thing Hayden would say. We went and bought David a birthday present and it didn't take long for Hayden to tattle what it was. David then began asking me about and of course I can't keep a straight face so he already knows but can't open it tomorrow. Happy Birthday to a smart, wonderful, supporting, encouraging, helpful, and loving husband (or dad as Hayden would say).

Baby Update

Last week I went to the doctor and everything is fine. I gained 2 pounds which I am very excited about. I think it has to do with eating banana splits almost every night! I guess that is what I am craving, it has to have hot fudge and spray whip cream. David and I really worked hard last week on getting the office cleaned out and setting up a nursery. David has been so great with "giving up" his room. I think at times he is more on the ball with it than I am. I am hoping by the end of February we will have the crib and changing table set up. David told me, what are we going to do in a few months when you are big and pregnant? I told him just because I am big doesn't me I can't do anything. I think that is the reason he wants this task off of his to do list. I cleaned out closets and the kitchen to make room for bottles and baby bedding. Hayden has been such a help. He loves folding the laundry and helped with mopping. He is anxiously waiting the arrival and is dying to hold him. The other night we were all siting on the couch and the baby started moving and I told David first, so David was feeling him and then Hayden wanted to feel him too. So when Hayden was trying to feel him and he wasn't moving, Hayden started to sing the same song that I sing to him to wake him up. He was so cute. He thinks that if he listening to my belly that will make baby brother move around more.

Mother of Boys

I found this cute poem on pinterest and I immediately fell in love with the saying. I think we the baby comes I am going to frame this and a picture of the boys together.

Hand-prints on cup boards
and shoes in the hall

Toilet seat's up and there's
mud on the wall.

Every sports channel to
them will appeal

And the front room doubles
as a football field.

The shelves in the kitchen
are continually bare.

There's a toy on the couch
and jean's on the chair.

Wrestling and mud and
cars and noise,

I'm sure you can guess I'm
the MOTHER OF BOYS!

I am truly proud and excited to be the mother of boys. I wouldn't change anything about having two boys they (well technically Hayden) keep me dreaming and on my toes, which is the best part.

Rhyme game

I know I have talked about the baby a ton and I feel like I am leaving Hayden out! Hayden is changing in so many ways. He is getting into the annoying but funny stage. He will say the most ridiculous stuff and then crack up laughing (this will make me laugh so we will be laughing for no apparent reason). Hayden loves to rhyme words, I will say anything an he will finish it with words that rhyme. He loves to sing a song where you change names of people or things to rhyme. He is eager to help in the kitchen but hates the washing the hands part (whats the use? They are still clean, I washed them yesterday). Last week when David stayed home with Hayden they were doing this

(In case your wondering it is a pellet gun and he could do everything all by himself)

Hayden loves to read stories at night and then re-tell them to me. He likes to do a state puzzle and the asks 50 million questions about what each state has. He is getting really good at remembering the states and where they are located on the map. I think we are pretty sure about the private school thing and have our top pick narrowed down. The only hiccup with this is that we need to figure our the earliest to drop him off. The way David's work schedule as of now is we would have to find someone to drop him off ten days out of the month. I am hoping my schedule will change next year and I can go in a little later so that I can drop him off the days that David is working. Hayden is a typically boy and is dying to have the training wheels taken off but can't balance yet. He still loves to give me kisses at night and if I tuck him in without giving him hugs and kisses he will remind me. He is so excited to become a big brother and asks me all the time when is May coming. I think in April we will start a countdown and have a calendar for him to see.

Happy Birthday

Okay, Okay, I know I have been a slacker when posting lately! It has turned into to tired from school, work, being a wife and a mother so here is one that is more then a week over due!

Last Saturday we celebrated Grandma's Gilbert's 75th birthday. I really enjoyed all the Gilbert side getting together to celebrate with her. If you don't know Grandma Gilbert or met her you are missing out. She is a rare lady. She is the one you call on bad days just to talk or when things are great. She always lends an ear or whatever you need at that time. She has taught me so much but the biggest thing is how to love and believe. She has been there for all the important first like when I found my wedding dress or seeing me graduate from Tech. She never judges or ever tells you your making a bad decision. She is so supportive, she calls me to find out if I've past test and she was calling a lot over Christmas to ask about David's process with La Marque. She been to Hayden's t-ball game and there is so much more I can write about her. I know that there are times when things are hard for all of us but she is truly an angel that I couldn't live without.

Thank you grandma for all you do and we are blessed beyond belief to have you in our life.

Here is the first picture I (think if not I can't find an older one) of her and Hayden

Here is the newest one
