Passed

I have been studying (okay really just looking at the book and getting very distracted) to take my Special Education test. I took it on Wednesday and had no idea how I did. David asked me "Did you pass"? I told him there were somethings I knew but the things I didn't know I had to guess. There were some tricky questions about what laws were passed. So today I got my scores back and I PASSED!!! I am so excited. It is kind of weird that I did better on this test then my General Education test. I think it was because of my previous experience. You get so much more knowledge by being in the classroom. I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet. The good thing is it will help me get into the Masters program at SFA. To get into the Vision program they rate you on a scale. Different things like reference letters, philosophy of Education, teaching experience, and certification will determine your score. So having my Special Education certification will help. Hayden and I came to Aunt Ann's for the weekend. I brought Hayden's jeep for him to drive here. We had only been here a few minutes and he had to have it. Aunt Ann has a huge drive way that he can drive his jeep in. He loves it. We are gathering recipes to for us to make. I am wanting to try strawberry cake balls. I have never made any cake balls so it will be interesting to try it out. On the way here Hayden decide he was going to count in Spanish to ten. He always sings a song or does something new in the car. I think its because I am driving, have the radio on, and I can't hear him. If I hear him do these things he will have to do them more often.

WHITE

As you know Hayden loves to sing. Yesterday I picked him up from school. He kept singing the WHITE song. We sing color songs in my class so I was familiar with the song but didn't know all the words. I had to look online to find the words. If you can't understand him I put the words on here.

W-H-I-T-E
THAT SPELLS WHITE, SING WITH ME
MILK IS WHITE, AND SO IS GLUE
GHOSTS ARE WHITE
AND THEY SAY BOO!

W-H-I-T-E
THAT SPELLS WHITE, SING WITH ME
THE CLOUDS ABOVE, THE SNOW BELOW
SANTA’S BEARD, HO, HO, HO!

It surprised me how he knows all the words. He loves to talk about who lives where. He knows where all of his grandparents live. Any time we are driving he asks "Where are we"? I love getting him on video. He is so cute. Hayden has had a rough time staying in his bed at night. We read stories and then he falls asleep in his bed. Around 11 or 12 he will come out and many times we find him on the couch. We move him back to his bed. Then when we wake up he is sleeping on the couch. Now we are leaving him there. He does tell me that he doesn't like his bed because it is a baby bed. (He sleeps in a toddler bed). I asked him what that means. He took off the sheets to show me the teddy bears with blankets. (his mattress) I said Hayden just because it has teddy bears on it doesn't mean it's a baby bed. He said yes it does because I slept in it when I was a baby. He is a clever kid.

95

Today we celebrated Momer's (David's Great-Grandma's) 95th birthday. David's whole family got together and we went out to lunch and had cake. It was really nice to spend the day with family. Hayden had lots of fun playing with his cousins. I can't believe how the years flew by. I remember Momer coming to watch Emily and I play basketball. That was 10 years ago! Here are a few pictures from the day. Happy Birthday Momer!

A few nights ago Hayden wanted to help me cook. I told him he could. At the time I was cutting up celery. He got out a cutting board and knife and was working at the table. He mentioned to me that it wasn't doing a great job. "They are not in half" (his exact words). So he decided that he need something else to cut. I thought he was going to get out his Pampered Chef knife out. (It looks sharper than a butter knife but it is serrated a special way that it won't cut him). He comes back with his chain saw! Dale and Sara bought Hayden this. It has a switch that you push and it turns on. The "chain" part moves around the blade. When I got the camera to capture the moments he had already stopped.

You can see the saw in the picture. I thought this was a typical boy thing. Who would think of that!!

Butterfly Song

Okay..so Hayden loves to listen to music. He always wants me to turn up the radio in car. He thinks I know all the words to every song. He tells me sing sing. I end up making up words if I don't know it. Hayden picks up tunes and words very fast. I have a few that I listen to over and over. So I had Miley Cyrus song Party in the USA on and he knew the chorus. He calls it the Butterfly Song. So I decide I would get the camera on and catch him singing it.

He has a habit of singing songs all the time. He will be cleaning or doing a puzzle and start singing. It is so cute! We can tell when he learns a new song at school. Hayden and I stayed home today because he said he didn't feel good. Hayden is not a complainer so I took him to the doctor. He kept telling me his throat hurt. The good news is that he doesn't have Strep but it might take 2 weeks until all the symptoms are gone.

One Day

It really surprises me how much you can get done in one day. I have been taking my time and slacking on housework. I had laundry in a HUGE pile for 3 weeks. It took over 2 hours to fold and put away everything. So I decide that since I had today off I would get after it. I cleaned my entire house, went to the grocery store, cooked 2 meals, and finished my SFA application. Hayden even helped me mop! It took a lot longer to finish mopping but it was fun. He gave up playing guns to mop. I hope that will last.

After the grocery store Hayden slept. I don't think he is feeling good. He took a 3 hour nap and went to bed at 9. He isn't running a fever but says his belly hurts. I am hoping that we will have nice weather the next few days. Hayden has been dying to play in the backyard. Since it has rained it is a muddy mess out there.

Were Back!!

Okay so it has been well over a year since I made a post. I have been trying to remember all the things that we have done and the things Hayden has said and I can't remember everything. I love being able to go back and read previous post. I am going to try to keep up. Christmas and New Years flew by so fast and we enjoyed all the time with family. I have Christmas pictures that I need to upload to Picasa. I did upload a few from his birthday. Hayden grew up in the last year. From just being able to put sentences together to now talking up a storm.

Hayden surprises me everyday. His favorite things to do now are puzzles, read I Spy books, and play with his trains and cars. We have been working a lot on recognizing letters. He now knows them all!! Now we are learning the sounds. He struggles with remembering them. We do motions to remember the sounds and once I do the motion he can tell me the sound. He is a visual and auditory learner. I had a conference with Hayden's teacher and asked what he needed to work on and she told me that he won't write in school. Hayden does not like to write his name or color at home. So instead we have been working on fine motor activities. I have discovered his favorite is shaving cream.

We have been going to church and Hayden is starting to remember what the lessons are about. He will ask questions about Jesus and sing Jesus Loves Me. I am looking for a kid friendly bible that I can read to Hayden at bedtime, something with a lot of pictures. He loves to look at pictures and describe in detail whats happening. So if you know a good one let me know.

I am applying to Stephen F. Austin to start on a Masters program. I am going to get my Masters in Special Education in Visual Impairment. I will teach students that are blind or with low vision. The only thing I am scared about is learning braille. I will start in the Summer. It is a 36 hour program so I am hoping I can be done in 2 years (3 at the most). I am very excited about it. I think I rushed through college just wanting to get done. Now I can go back and actually enjoy it. I need to finish my application tomorrow.

We have been looking into signing Hayden up for t-ball. His games will start in late March. I think he is going to have a ball! He loves to hit off the T outside. I think the hardest part might be catching the ball with the glove. He lets the ball drop in front of him. We really haven't taught him how to catch.

Here are a few pictures...
