A tale of two Cities

When we went to Houston for Spring Break we were so excited to be home. We talked and decided to move to Houston at the end of May. Now we are thinking we shouldn't. We are not really sure now. David has a good job here and there are a lot of more opportunities here for him. He could also switch to production, which he wouldn't travel and be home more. I was planning on coming to Houston on Friday for a job fair. I even bought my ticket, I think I will wait though. So pray that we make the right decision for our family.

Sleep

I have to brag on Hayden a bit. When we went for his four month check up the doctor said that sometimes that breast fed babies can take up to 8 months before they sleep through the night. Twice this week Hayden has slept through the night. I am so excited! What makes this even better is he goes to sleep on his own. We lay him in his crib and he falls asleep after about 10 minutes. Going to daycare has really helped him on this. I ask his teachers to let him fall asleep on his own instead of rocking him. It is weird thought because I find myself getting up to check on him. Which makes me not sleep because I am waiting for him to wake up. He is doing much better. I think soon Hayden will have teeth. He is drooling like crazy we go through 2-3 bibs a day. He is chewing on everything. He loves his thumb. During the night he will suck his thumb to fall asleep, it is so cute!

New Church

David and I have decided to look for a new church. We have been going to a Baptist church here in Midland. The preacher preaches what David calls " a feel good message". So we are going to start visiting other churches here. The one thing I liked about the church was the worship. I hope we find a good church that we both like and also good nursery workers for Hayden. So pray that we find a church home. Anyways Hayden is doing a lot better. He has been waking up during the night. I think it is because he is learning a lot of new things. He is rolling around in his crib and sometimes get stuck. I think tonight we have decided that we aren't going to go pick him up unless he cries. Most of the time he talks or plays then falls back asleep on his own.

I've got a tongue

Hayden has discovered his tongue. He sticks it out and then pulls it back in and laughs the whole time. It is really cute. At first we thought it was kind of strange but it is hilarious. I am not sure if he thinks it is funny since we laugh. Well all is good here. David is going to Van Horn at 2 in the morning. He has a frac job there this week. I am hoping he will be able to come home at night instead of staying in a hotel. We will see, the new engineer is doing the job tomorrow. I hope he doesn't screw up. David is teaching me how to load pictures on to the website. We got a really neat Cannon printer. It has a place for our memory card. The best thing about the printer is that is uses a network. Since we don't use our desktop, we can print and manage the pictures using our laptops. Its really pretty neat and user friendly, which I need. I have also added Easter and a few more Houston pictures. I am trying to figure out how to change the slide show. I guess I will try again later this week.

Home at Last

We are home. Hayden did pretty good on the flight home. He was hungry. He ate 3 times in 2 hours. The security people made me throw out his bottle water that was warm. He ended up taking a room temperature bottle. Hayden has been going through this phase were he cries/screams bloody murder. I have finally figured out that he is hungry sometimes tired. I think he is going through a growth spurt. He has been eating every 2 hours any where from 4-6 ounces. Tonight, I fed him at 7:30 6 ounces and then 6 more at 8:30. I hope that he does well at daycare. He has been spoiled this week. He has been held and loved a lot. I hope he doesn't have a hard time adjusting. Aunt Marcelle sent Hayden an Easter outfit. He wore it to church this morning. He looked really cute. We will load some pictures up soon. David also got a new boss while on vacation so we will see how that turns out.

Welcome to 2000-something

Living in Midland we have no family around and that is really the reason we started this blog. Once Hayden was born everyone was wanting constant updates and new pictures and email was just not working out very well. The blog helps get the information out to everyone but we also use another web tool called skype. Skype is an internet telephone service (VOIP) and it allows you to transmit video. We hooked up an old computer to our plasma tv and now we can video chat with anyone wanting to check on Hayden's status. The picture above gives you an idea of how it works for us. If you want our skype user name just drop us an email huntersintxATATgmailDOTDOTcom the ATAT = @ and the DOTDOT = . putting the address in the blog like that helps prevent us from receiving spam. If that makes no sense and it probably doesn't just give us a call.

Time to update

We have been taking so many pictures since we have been in Houston. David will add them once we get back to Midland. I am hoping to dress Hayden in his Easter outfit tomorrow and take pictures. It will be really cute, because he is smiling and sitting up now. We are also going to attempt to color Easter eggs. I hope it all turns out. We will be leaving on Friday. We have enjoyed our visit. I am hoping that David and I can go out for lunch on Friday. We haven't had a "date" since Hayden was born. Anyways, Hayden is doing good and enjoying all the attention he has been receiving. I am also very surprised how well he has been sleeping. He likes his own bed and I thought it would be crazy, but its not. He is only getting up once to eat and then goes back to sleep. He is even sleeping late until 6:30-7:00.

Allergy Free Zone

I have been suffering from severe allergy problems for about 7 months now. And when I say severe I mean I have been sick more than I have been well in the past 7 months, I have been on antibiotics more time than I have not been on them. I have tried a large range of allergy medications and nothings seems to really help, I have even tried getting second and third opinions and still have not been able to come up with a solution. What is strange about all of this is that I did not have any allergy problems when I lived in Lubbock and Midland is basically the exact type of climate.

I have found a solution though. Every time I come down to Houston I feel much better. Today I landed at Hobby around noon and by 1 o'clock I felt good. This happens every time that I visit.

We're in Houston

We are all now in Friendswood/Houston . I am so excited! It was really fun to see Mimi and Pop last night. I have my interview tomorrow. If anyone knows of any private schools that are hiring elementary teachers let me know. We had a crazy flight yesterday. Hayden had to be fed and changed while on the plane. So Karen and I were busy.

I have heard that everyone loves the blogs. It is nice to know that I am writing for some reason. We are going to try to take pictures of Hayden and Ava, won't that be cute?

Feeling Pretty Good

Well today I am doing better. I am trying not to take any pain medication so I can feed Hayden. Last night was crazy. I had to sleep with the ice pack strapped to my face, and the darn thing would not stop leaking. I must have gotten up 6 times to put ice in it. I think I am going to have some bruising, but I am not swollen yet. I think Hayden is teething. He is chewing on everything. Karen gave him some frozen fruit and he loved it.
I have an interview in Houston for a teaching position at a private school, it is a school/daycare. It will be good place for Hayden. They use Aabeka curriculum which is based on a Christian perspective. I used this same curriculum at Stones and it will be perfect for Hayden.

Wisdom Teeth

Well today I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I am feeling okay. I have this sock looking thing with ice in it strapped to my face. It helps keep the swelling down. I have to wear it for 24 hours! My face is still numb. My body is kind of feeling crazy with all the medicine they gave me. Karen came down last night to help with Hayden. It is really nice to have an extra set of hands. Hayden is feeling better. He is eating on some what of a schedule now. The time change and being sick has really thrown him off his normal schedule.

Staying Home

Poor Hayden...he is still running a fever, a low grade one, 101. The doctor said if it gets above 103 bring him in. His body is trying to fight off his ear infection with the fever. I stayed home with Hayden on Monday. I am out of sick and personal days. I can't believe I have missed 10 days already, well I have 4 personal days saved. I am using 2 this week and 2 in April. Anyways, David stayed home with him today. I kept on calling David and checking on them, of course they were fine. I drove David nuts. I am really happy that David is able to care of him with out me nagging him. Well tomorrow Hayden gets to go to work with dad.

Dr. Vist.....AGAIN!

Well I took Hayden to the doctor this morning. He had been running a fever, low grade the highest it was 101.5 I have been to the pediatrician once every month since Hayden has been born, not to mention how many times I have called the nurse. I am very paranoid. I am trying so hard not to worry and let God take care of it all. Hayden has an ear infection and is on antibiotics. He is also taking Benadryl, which will help dry up all the phlem in his throat. The doctor was very surprised in the amount of weight he put on in two weeks, he has gained almost 2 pounds. He weighs 16.5 pounds and is 27 inches long. His weight is in the 50% and height in the 75%. David and I are looking for a new car seat. When he reaches 20 pounds it is time to upgrade. Look at this picture of Hayden sleeping....Too Cute, Huh?

MMMM Good

Hayden has been eating solid food for about a month now. He loves to eat. He likes to suck his fingers after every bite. I am not sure why he does this. I am thinking he is associating the sucking notion with feeling full. He does not like green vegetables. I have tried about 10 times to serve him peas and green beans, he cries and screams. I have even mixed them with fruit or carrots. He knows they are in there. He is a smart cookie! I have also been teaching him the Guns-Up sign. We have another kid going to Texas Tech, I hope. Check our pictures out. David will put some more up this weekend.

Roll Over, Sit, and Stay

Yeah, Hayden can now roll over and sit (with help). He also tries to roll over in his sleep. Which is bad because of his asthma. He is not supposed to sleep on his belly until he is 7-8 months old. He now has a flat and bald spot on his head. We give him tummy time during the day. We also lay him on his side when he is napping. Hope his hair grows back soon. When David and I check on him he is always in weird positions. He is a wild sleeper. He has been growing so much now. I have packed up some of his 3-6 months clothes. I have tried putting on his 6-9 months clothes and they are a little big, oh well. I think it is better for him to be comfortable then wearing clothes that are to tight. It was funny because yesterday I put him in an outfit, a little too small. The shirt was to tight over his belly. He has a huge belly, it is cute though. We have taking some pictures of him, we will try to get them on here in a couple of days. David has been sick. Finally, he went to the doctor he has a sinus infection. He is on a lot of medicine. David has been have really bad allergies here. He tried to get in to see an Allergist, it is a month long wait. The weather has been crazy here. On Monday it snowed, yesterday a high of 70, WEIRD. I have come to the conclusion that only in West Texas can you use your heater and air condition in the same day.

Saving Money

I am always looking for ways to save money. Why would I want to pay full price for stuff? I have now realized that you can sign up to be on mailing list and receive coupons through the mail or e-mail. Every month I receive about 15 dollars worth coupons for diapers and formula. I may not need the item like formula, but I buy it and save it for when I do. Also you can price match. Walmart will price match anything if you have an ad. Many times in larger cities you can shop on days that have double or triple coupon days. My favorite thing that I have found is just between friends it is a consignment store that is in different areas in Texas, and other states too. They sale clothes and furniture usually for children and teens. What is really neat if they have a sale usually on Saturday and its half off. The JBF only comes twice a year in the Fall and Spring. The stuff they sale is really nice and good quality. I feel horrible for paying full price for items that Hayden will wear a few times. I went in the fall and got over 20 outfits, shoes, pjs, onesizes, bibs, and toys all for 60 bucks. Also if you want to sell items you can and they will send you a rebate check when the sale is over. I thought about doing this with some of Hayden's stuff, but I am saving it all for when we have more kids. If any of yall know any more money saving tips let me know.
